There were SO MANY ways that one could have gone. If I hadn't already spent like an hour on this and had to edit the html so many times I'd take it a few more times to see what happened. Maybe for another day.

It's COSPLAY DAY!!!!!!!! Halloween in the booming metropolis of Madison, WI brings not only douches and skanks out in force from the surrounding areas and beyond.........it also brings me a more valid excuse than "I felt like it" to dress in anime costume. (Which reminds me....I bought a new cheerleader skirt while ragstock had an abundance so I can assemble yet another anime school uniform. The skirt is kinda long for anime skirt purposes, but for real life covering of my ass it does a good job.....that may be what's important in the long run.) Tonight's costume. The great Shuichi Shindou of the hit Japanese Electronic Synth Pop band BAD LUCK. Don't worry..............there will be pictures. Rest assured. I didn't go all hardcore and EXACTLY replicate the costume, and my hair is kinda long, but hey.........I also have a life OUTSIDE being an otaku. Novel idea I know.

Ok...time for making maps now. And so........look forward to pics of me and my rockstar sexy hotness..........if only I had a Yuki Eiri.............................................

Yay for Adult Swim

I haven't really been watching much Adult Swim mostly because I don't watch much TV and I don't watch much anime dubbed. But the Saturday night lineup which I turned on for the fun of it post baseball yesterday is AWESOME.

Eva (though I have NO IDEA what's going on cause it's somewhere in the middle and the dub is hilarious)
Full Metal Alchemist (see above comment except that the dub is actually pretty good)
FLCL (AND it was my favorite ep. #4. The one with the baseball and the gigantic sexual metaphor and even more awesomeness than the other 5 eps)
Samurai Champloo (still a good show even if the dub makes me cringe cause it isn't Spike)

And I watched it with Steph via MSN messenger. And I was talking to Brian at the same time. It felt SO good. I'm WAY behind in my anime viewing. Thanks not so much to school but moreso to a lack of motivation to actually watch any of the things I have. Even though I need to see them. But now I have a will and I don't have the time. Though I did read Saiyuki 3 while watching Pokemon on TV yesterday and then watch 2 eps of Aishiteruze Baby.

Today I have to study Statistics. No anime for me today.

A New Trend Perhaps??

I seem to have moved into a new place in the anime world as well as the real world. Though I'm very confident that the old world still very much exists inside of me. At any rate....the new thread of things to watch seems to involve good beings and humans co-existing and either the good beings go bad or there are alternate bad beings and either (in the latter case) the good beings, or some of the bad beings that resisted whatever set them off to going bad fighting against the bad beings in epic battle. Usually there is soul eating and human eating and things like this going on. It all started with Serenity.....and now here we are.

First...Saiyuki. I like Saiyuki. I've been reading the manga. I wasn't so keen on it after the first book, but Steph and Bri were SO into it that I gave it the benefit of the doubt. The second book held my interest much more. And it left me hanging in suspense for the third. Which I intended to read today but didn't. It shall be done. Any rate....Sayiuki is a remake of an old Chinese story that involves a pretty boy "Buddhist priest" who has the highest order of the priests but doesn't practice and instead is to quote Brian Hagen "hard drinking, hard smoking, gun toting". And his 3 companions who are all members of the race gone bad who wear power limiters and take human form and are trying to find the source of the power behind whatever is making them evil and destroy it. I'm not very far into it....but yeah, seems to be in that vein. And the boys are pretty. Although the prettiest one is supposed to be the priest, Sanzo (and when I took the online quiz about which one was for me that's who I got), I gotta think I'm partial to either Gojyo or Hakkai. We'll see if that changes as the story progresses.

Second...Bleach. On a Hagen recommendation of something that wasn't shoujo (though it's still pretty character centered thus far....I don't know how far out of the shoujo realm it falls) I obtained the first season of Bleach. I watched the first 2 episodes today. Not bad really, even though it's historically not my "thing". If I have a "thing". Premise....the scary badass 15 year old hs boy (who resembles Kyo Sohma) whose family owns the town clinic where sometimes people die can see ghosts. So can the rest of the family. He sometimes helps them, especially little kids. He sees this girl (very reminiscent of Natsuki from Mai HiME) who helps slay this huge monster thing that appears to be attacking this little girl ghost he helps. Turns out she's a "Death god" which is something like the grim reaper of sorts. And there are "plus souls" and some other kinda soul that I don't remember right now and she sends the good ones to heaven and she kills the bad ones with her badass katana skillz. So...turns out the bad soul monster things are really after the guy and the only way to save his family is if she turns him into a death god too. So then....he kills the thing and he's a death god and now he has to kill the monster things. But he doesn't want to follow orders...he just wants to help the people he wants. Yeah...that's where I am on that one now. Seems interesting at least.....there's a shit ton lot of it, so apparently other people like it. Though.....there's a shit ton lot of Tenchi too and ain't no one watching that.

Alright....that's the series as they stand. Also...been watching Yakitate! Japan. Not something I'll keep and watch again, but it's holding my interest at least.

Yep....and to quote my friend Paul telling me that his little brother would love it if I would IM him to talk about anime:

Good movies and Good People

So...I just got back from a viewing of Serenity (courtesy of the fine folks at Alliant Energy who gave me a giftcard for Marcus Cinemas) with latest friend Adam Perkins. (Hmmm...I should call him AP...nice ring to it. I wonder if he'll hate that??) VERY VERY VERY good movie. If you like sci-fi and nerd things (I imagine you do if you're taking the time to read this blog) then you should see this. It was awesome. Actually better than I expected. It made me laugh, it made me sad, it made me jump.......SO GOOD. You have to understand that it does, in a way, make fun of itself........but it doesn't do it in the traditional way. It does it well. So much that you think it's good despite the fact that it makes fun of the genre to an extent. Ok......but that's not the focus really. The movie is based on the sci-fi series Firefly (forever immortalized in Penny-Arcade fame) which I am only, admittedly, slightly familiar with as I never really did get much chance to see the DVDs that Hagen bought since he left so soon afterward. The movie, however, REALLY made me want to see the series. So.....Hagen....you, me, January, Firefly.......bring it on.

Hey friends and fellow anime lovers.

Thanks to my newest friend Adam I have a dvd burner now and have found a much more efficient way to archive all my fansubbed anime than on CD-Rs. Consequently...I'm re-burning all of my anime to DVD-R now so I have no need for these CDs. So....I would like to offer you out there who love me enough to read my nerdish musings the opportunity to claim this anime on CD. You have to have DivX and Xvid codecs, but those are pretty easy to get online. I'll help you if you want. Ok...so...series goes to the highest bidder (and by that I mean whoever gives me the best reason why THEY should get the series over the other people).
